Use RFID technology to realize the automation of production process

Use RFID technology to realize the automation of production process

Mar 2,2023

Faurecia has carried out strategic transformation of its business under the guidance of the principles of Industry 4.0. Part of this strategic transformation is the digital transformation of manufacturing business, using RFID to optimize Faurecia's production line. When Faurecia implemented RFID solutions in its 12 factories, they found that:

Improved the operation of many factories;

Improve the efficiency of parts inventory

Reduce human tasks, such as transportation, reception and transshipment

Higher product traceability improves customer satisfaction

Faurecia uses RFID to build a future factory

Automated production lines reduce tracking costs

The automobile industry is undergoing a technological revolution, and Faurecia is formulating policies to change the manufacturing and transportation business. After evaluating other technologies, they found an easy-to-deploy RFID solution that can optimize operations and provide real-time visibility of inventory - both of which are key factors to improve customer satisfaction. By marking the items entering the factory and executing Impinj's readers along the production line, they optimize the logistics process and eliminate redundant manual steps at the same time.

When manufacturing each item, they attach Monza R6 label chip to these items. Items with labels include bags, boxes and finished products.

They installed xSpan gateways at key transition points, such as manufacturing points and cargo dock doors. The configuration of the reader should comply with the space and regional wireless network specifications.

When the item is read at the conversion point, the data will be transferred to the ItemSense software to determine the movement direction of the item. Then the key information will be transmitted to the site operators.Faurecia, together with its partner UBI Solutions, has created an RFID solution, which can now be deployed to every new factory in Faurecia within a week. With the success of the existing deployment, Faurecia plans to expand its RFID project to other new factories and warehouses around the world.

With its new visibility, field workers have a better understanding of the activities of the factory and the data needed to make informed decisions for future operations.

Real-time inventory monitoring brings more effective parts inventory

Faurecia's real-time inventory monitoring enables the company to maintain accurate inventory levels at all times. This helps to improve the overall production efficiency and ensure that the right accessories are provided to the right customers when needed.Reduce the workload of human tasks, such as transportation, reception and transshipmentAutomated transportation, reception and transfer tasks reduce manual work. This process of proofreading and declaration on the production line and in the process of transportation is reduced, and the operation cost is finally optimized.Reducing wrong or lost orders will improve customer satisfactionThrough automatic tracking of sending and receiving goods, Faurecia provides highly accurate information about inventory items and improves the traceability of parts, thus ensuring customer satisfaction.
